In addition to the community outreach efforts to provide food, shelter, and community to the people of Memphis, First Church will construct a new place for worship on the corner of Poplar and Second. This will provide the much-needed rebuilding of the 113-year-old sanctuary destroyed in the fire of 2006.
Church members have approved plans for the building project, complete with traditional appeal, bell tower, and glass walls. The church celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony in April 2017, and construction of the exterior structure is underway.
A welcoming and easily accessible house of worship will enable First Church to welcome newcomers to our fellowship, while continuing to minister to our congregation. This facility, once completed, will encourage growth. And as more people worship with us, we will be even better equipped to serve the community of Memphis. Imagine the impact in downtown Memphis as this facility becomes an even brighter light to those in search of hope and help!
